Minutemen Suffer 6-1 Road Loss
|
The Texas Vipers downed the Boston Minutemen, 6-1, at Pepsi Dome. Stellar pitching by Chris Bassitt had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who finished 5th in the UL in wins with 14 last year, handcuffed his opponent all game. Bassitt yielded no runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 0, and struck out 6. His record improves to 5-6. With this game in the books, Texas is 61-76, Boston 67-70.
Jake Cronenworth was 1-3 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI for Texas. The 31-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a 2-run single off Kyle Bradish. It was his 74th hit of the season.
Cronenworth told a Texas Daily reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
