Carolina Beats Washington, 4-1
Jonah Tong never let Washington get something going. The Carolina right-hander commanded his fastball in pitching the Riptides to a 4-1 win. Matt Brash, credited with the save, is now 26 for 28 in save opportunities. The first-place Riptides, at 86-55, now lead their division by 11 games.

Kody Clemens had a key at-bat with one out in the bottom of the second for Carolina. With the bases loaded and the Riptides leading 1-0, he hit a sacrifice fly.

"I thought we played a nice game," Clemens told the Carolina Today. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
