Tony Gwynn Memorial Field was host to some action-packed drama.

The Tampa Bay Bandits defeated the Washington Hitmen by the score of 8-7, with the biggest share of the credit going to designated hitter Yordan Alvarez. Alvarez went 3-5 with 3 doubles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Bandits on the day. Tampa Bay now has a record of 90-53 with the win.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Tampa Bay second baseman Brendan Donovan, facing Ian Hamilton, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Bandits the 8-7 win.

"We couldn't have scripted it any better," Alvarez said in his postgame press conference.
