Washington Beaten, 3-1, by Detroit
|
Clay Holmes never let Washington get something going. The Detroit right-hander commanded his sinker in pitching the Demons to a 3-1 win. Emerson Hancock picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 3-3. Nic Enright suffered the loss. Andrew Heaney earned his 1st save in 1 chances.
Detroit took advantage of an error in the top of the ninth inning. The game was tied, 1-1, when Giancarlo Stanton hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Demons in front, 2-1.
"Clay did a heck of a job," said Detroit manager Marc Buffington.
The loss makes Washington 70-73.
