Soto Slugs Riptides to 7-1 Win
|
Juan Soto batted in 4 runs to lead Carolina to a win over Cincinnati. The final score was 7-1. Soto chipped in 2 singles and 2 home runs. Clayton Kershaw got the win, improving to 2-1. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 6 hits and 1 run, while striking out 9 and walking 2. Cincinnati drops to 10-18.
Wilyer Abreu had a big solo home run for the Riptides in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Carolina leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a changeup from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Josiah Gray and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Riptides on top, 3-1.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Abreu.
