Roses Snatch Late-Game, 3-2 Win
The Carolina Riptides got a sterling performance from pitcher Clayton Kershaw, but the Oakland Roses still prevailed, 3-2. Kershaw threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The win went to Chad Green in relief, making him now 3-0. Phil Bickford took the loss for Carolina. The triumph puts Oakland at 78-67 for the season.

Jorge Polanco came through with a big-time hit for Oakland. The pinch hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

In postgame comments to the Oakland Gazette, Polanco said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
