Washington Hitmen starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitched his team past the Pittsburgh Ironmen, 3-0. Ian Hamilton earned his 32nd save in 34 tries. The Hitmen improved their record to 67-79 with the win over Pittsburgh.

Washington took a 3-0 lead on Juan Yepez's 10th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Yepez hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Pittsburgh pitcher Yariel Rodriguez visibly frustrated.

"I was able to change speeds effectively tonight," said Yamamoto.
