The Montreal PoorBoys defeated the Denver Bears, 7-5, in Federal League action at Big Donut Stadium. Montreal pitcher Keider Montero had a standout performance. Montero, now 2-1, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. With the win over Denver, the PoorBoys improved to 73-73.
The PoorBoys got a big at-bat from designated hitter Christian Walker. For the game, Walker went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 29th home run of the season gave Montreal a 5-2 lead.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Montreal manager Garrett Woolsey.
