Sting Earn Win with Late Rally
|
The Seattle Sting defeated the San Francisco Dragons, 6-5, at Boeing Field. Corbin Carroll, who finished 3rd in the UL in triples with 10 last year, was a standout performer for Seattle. His 4 hits included 2 singles and 2 doubles -- this in addition to the 2 runs he scored and 1 he knocked in. Pierce Johnson, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-1. He allowed no runs on no hits in 0.1 innings. Seattle is now 86-61, 8 games up in the Union League Western Division.
The game was all tied up in the bottom of the eighth, until Carroll delivered big-time for Seattle, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Brusdar Graterol. The game-changing hit put the Sting on top, 6-5.
"What's not to like about a win?" said Carroll.
