Hitmen Score Late, Clip Ironmen, 7-6
|
The Washington Hitmen wiggled past the Pittsburgh Ironmen, 7-6, at RFK Stadium. The win was highlighted by the performance of Washington pitcher Paul Skenes. With this game in the books, Washington is 68-79, Pittsburgh 67-80.
The decisive blow was delivered by William Contreras in the bottom of the 12th when he hit a solo home run off 28-year old right-handed pitcher Yariel Rodriguez to win the game for Washington. The home crowd went nuts.
"This place sure got loud," said John Anderson, the Washington manager.
