Kepler Hits 2 home runs in Jaguars Win
|
Portland and Philadelphia duked it out and the Jaguars came out victorious.
The Portland Jaguars topped the Philadelphia Phalanx, 7-4, at Citizens Bank Park. Portland right fielder Max Kepler was a spark plug for the offense. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Jordan Romano, who finished 5th in the UL in saves with 32 in 2023, picked up the win in relief. Sean Reid-Foley took the loss for Philadelphia.
Portland needed the clutch hitting of Whit Merrifield to seal the deal. The second baseman swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Jaguars on top, 7-4. For the game, Merrifield had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Kepler, "and then get after it again."
After today's action, Portland sits at 76-71; Philadelphia slips to 70-77.
