Detroit Defeated By Riptides, 4-3
|
Carolina starter Dylan Cease pitched well against the Detroit Demons at Detroit Park. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-3. The winner was Daysbel Hernandez in relief. His record improves to 1-3. Josh Winckowski took the loss. Peter Fairbanks notched his 6th save in 6 chances.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Juan Soto? The 2022 CBA Most Valuable Player winner Soto stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put Carolina up, 4-3. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Dylan gave us everything he had," said Carolina manager Rob Hansen.
The first-place Riptides, at 79-69, lead the Union League Eastern Division by 6½ games.
