Bulldogs Suffer 5-2 Home Defeat
|
The Boston Minutemen rode a solid performance from 31-year-old starting pitcher Michael King to a win, beating the Georgia Bulldogs, 5-2, at Eddie Matthews Stadium. King yielded no runs over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 0, and struck out 6. His record improves to 6-9. Jose Alvarado got the save, his 28th in 32 chances.
The Minutemen got a big at-bat from shortstop Jeremy Pena. For the game, Pena went 3 for 5 with a home run and a triple. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the top of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 10th home run of the season gave Boston a 3-0 lead.
"I thought we played a nice game," Pena told the Boston Herald. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
