Due in part to center fielder Dairon Blanco, the Carolina Riptides chopped down the Detroit Demons, 4-3, in 11 innings. Blanco was 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2. Phil Bickford came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. His record now stands at 9-6. Carolina is 80-70 and Detroit, with the loss, 75-75.

Kody Clemens delivered a big hit for Carolina. The pinch hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Riptides ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.

"Both teams played hard," said Carolina manager Rob Hansen.
