Hitmen 4-2 Winners Over Toronto
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Washington Hitmen and Toronto Hogs.
The Washington Hitmen knocked off the Toronto Hogs, 4-2, in Federal League action at Sony Park. Washington pitcher and Bizen, Japan, native Yoshinobu Yamamoto had an outstanding performance. Yamamoto, now 14-11, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Ian Hamilton was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 34 of 37 save opportunities.
Washington used a clutch at-bat from Jamie Westbrook to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the second inning to put the Hitmen ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Bottom line," said Toronto skipper Anthony Cepparulo, "we didn't play well enough to win."
Today's win puts Washington at 70-81, while Toronto falls to 74-77.
