The Philadelphia Phalanx and St Louis Sluggers riveted fans at Busch Stadium.
The St Louis Sluggers topped the Philadelphia Phalanx, 7-4, in Federal League action at Busch Stadium. The standout performance belonged to St Louis pitcher and Medford, New York, native Marcus Stroman. Robert Garcia, credited with the save, is now 30 for 36 in save opportunities.
Taylor Ward helped his team take an early lead with a 2-run single. It came in the first inning, making the score 2-0, Sluggers.
"First place," said Sluggers manager John Hawkins. "This is right where we want to be."
With the win over Philadelphia, the Sluggers improved to 84-69.
