Alvarez Hits 2 home runs in Bandits Win
|
The exploits of designated hitter Yordan Alvarez, who finished 5th in the UL in OPS with .901 in 2023, helped the Tampa Bay Bandits defeat the San Francisco Dragons, 6-2. Alvarez hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The win belonged to Matt Strahm in relief. His record improves to 8-2. Dustin May took the loss for San Francisco. The Federal League Eastern Division-leading Bandits are 97-56.
The Bandits got a big at-bat from left fielder Heston Kjerstad. For the game, Kjerstad belted 2 home runs. In the top of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 15th home run of the season gave Tampa Bay a 3-2 lead.
"We didn't play well enough to win," San Francisco skipper Joe Turnage said.
