Riptides Earn 5-3 Win Against Explorers
The Carolina Riptides topped the Chicago Explorers, 5-3, in 10 innings at Baron's Ballyard. The game was highlighted by the performance of Carolina pitcher Gerrit Cole. The Riptides have an impressive 94-60 record.

Carolina used the timely hitting of Brett Baty to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Riptides on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I liked his command," said Carolina manager Rob Hansen. "Gerrit was throwing strikes."
