Louie Varland, who leads the FL in complete games with 1, was terrific for the San Francisco Dragons in his team's 3-0 triumph over the Denver Bears. His performance earned Varland rave reviews. The winner was Varland. He threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Brandon Woodruff. Mason Miller got the save, his 31st in 34 chances.

The Dragons got a big at-bat from right fielder Ronald Acuna Jr.. For the game, Acuna Jr. was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 27th home run of the season gave San Francisco a 2-0 lead.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Acuna Jr..
