Riptides Score Late, Clip Minutemen, 4-3
|
Carolina Riptides starter Tarik Skubal pitched a strong game against the Boston Minutemen at Fenway Park, leading the Riptides to victory, 4-3. Peter Fairbanks converted his 7th save in 8 tries. With the win, the Riptides have a record of 83-72.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the eighth, with the game tied, Anthony Rizzo was at the plate when Carolina scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Riptides to go in front, 4-3.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Boston skipper Tony Byrne, "and it cost us."
