Chicago Explorers pitcher Grayson Rodriguez whisked his team past the Texas Vipers, 5-2. Rodriguez yielded no runs over 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 1 hit, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 11-12. Chicago goes to 76-79, Texas to 73-82.

Ben Rortvedt had a big solo home run for the Explorers in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Chicago leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 28-year old right-handed pitcher Jake Irvin and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Explorers on top, 2-0.

Rortvedt told a Chicago Today reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
