Riptides Win, 4-2, Versus Chicago
|
Carolina center fielder Cody Bellinger contributed significantly to his team's 4-2 win over the Chicago Explorers. Bellinger, who finished 5th in the UL in triples with 7 in 2023, went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Riptides. Chris Martin was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 5 save opportunities. Carolina, at 95-60, is 9 games up in the Union League Eastern Division.
Bellinger had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 0-1 sinker from Tyler Anderson, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Riptides a 4-2 lead. It was the 15th home run of the year for Bellinger.
"Every time I go up there, I try and hit a ball hard," said Bellinger.
