The Philadelphia Phalanx withstood a fine game by San Diego designated hitter Vinnie Pasquantino at Petco Park, to upend the Snakeyes, 5-3. Pasquantino hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The winning pitcher was Logan Gilbert. He's now 15-10. He went 8 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits for the Phalanx. Kevin Ginkel was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 7 of 9 save opportunities.

Mike Yastrzemski had a big 2-run home run for the Phalanx in the top of the sixth inning. With Philadelphia leading 3-1 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 24-year old left-handed pitcher Adam Macko and punished it. The result was his 17th home run of the season, which put the Phalanx on top, 5-1.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Philadelphia manager Stephen Esterhazy. "It's usually not just one thing."

The loss makes San Diego 76-80.
