The Explorers grabbed a win, 4-3, at Baron's Ballyard, overcoming a fine effort from Carolina pitcher Jonah Tong. Tong went 5.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Chicago is now 68-88, while Carolina is 95-61.

The decisive blow was delivered by Salvador Perez in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 3-run home run off 28-year old right-handed pitcher Matt Brash to win the game for Chicago. The home crowd went nuts.

"This game was intense," Perez said, postgame.
