Riptides Stumble, Losing to Roses, 7-1
|
Two elite teams met in a late-season showdown.
Oakland Roses starter Eric Lauer led his team to victory over the Carolina Riptides, 7-1. The left-hander was locked-in. With the win, Oakland raised its record to 95-62.
Oakland used the hitting of Ramon Laureano to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Roses on top, 4-1. For the game, Laureano had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
Said losing manager Rob Hansen: "Give the Roses credit. They played a better game than we did."
