Riptides Get 8-5 Win Versus Philadelphia
|
Carolina third baseman Ryan McMahon played a vital role in his team's 8-5 conquest of Philadelphia. He was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for Carolina. Hector Neris got credit for the win, improving to 3-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. The first-place Riptides, at 84-74, lead the Union League Eastern Division by 8½ games.
Carolina grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when McMahon hit a 2-run home run off Justin Topa. His 27th home run of the season put the Riptides out in front, 7-5.
"I keep on showing up every day and trying to put up good at-bats and find good pitches to hit," said McMahon.
