In a tight contest between the Seattle Sting and the Cincinnati Stars, Ryne Nelson was the determining factor. The Seattle right-hander sparkled in his team's 2-1 win. The win gives Seattle a record of 17-13.

Pete Alonso had a big solo home run for the Sting in the bottom of the third inning. With Seattle leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a slider from Sean Manaea, who finished 5th in the UL in ERA with 3.57 in 2023, and punished it. The result was his 9th home run of the season, which put the Sting on top, 2-0.

"Gutsy performance by Ryne," said Seattle manager Jesus Cardiel.
