Philadelphia Beaten, 17-7, by Denver in 11
|
The Denver Bears cut down the Philadelphia Phalanx by the score of 17-7 in 11 innings. Much of the credit went to designated hitter Troy Johnston. Johnston went 4 for 6 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 2 for the Bears. Philadelphia, with the loss, is 14-16.
Denver used the clutch hitting of Andy Pages to capture the win. The center fielder drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the 11th inning to give the Bears the lead, 8-7. For the game, Pages had 2 singles and 2 doubles in 7 at-bats.
"Sometimes winning takes more than 27 outs," said Bears manager Aaron Hill.
