Sting Defeat Riptides, 4-2
|
The Seattle Sting knocked off the Carolina Riptides, 4-2, at IBM Field. It took 10 innings. Pete Alonso was a prime reason Seattle won. The first baseman went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. Seattle leads the Union League Western Division by 9½ games.
Seattle used a timely hit from Corbin Carroll to get the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Sting ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.
Carroll called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
