Bulldogs Rack Up 9-7 Win Versus Baltimore
|
The Georgia Bulldogs withstood an impressive performance by Baltimore catcher Adrian Del Castillo to defeat the Wildcats, 9-7, at Eddie Matthews Stadium. Del Castillo went 4-5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Georgia pitcher Stephen Strasburg got the win, upping his record to 5-1. Zack Wheeler got the loss. With the loss, Baltimore drops to 14-17.
Ben Rice had a big 2-run home run for the Bulldogs in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Georgia leading 7-4 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a sinker from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Gregory Santos and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Bulldogs on top, 9-4.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Rice told a Georgia News reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
