Ironmen Beat Philadelphia, 6-5
|
Citizens Bank Park was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Pittsburgh Ironmen and Philadelphia Phalanx.
The Philadelphia Phalanx could not turn a fine performance from second baseman Brett Wisely into a win. Instead, the Pittsburgh Ironmen prevailed, 6-5, in 10 innings. Wisely went 2-4 with 2 home runs and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Pittsburgh reliever Andrew Abbott picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Lucas Erceg was saddled with the loss. David Robertson was credited with the save for Pittsburgh, his 9th of the season.
It could have been a different outcome for Pittsburgh, had it not been for Luis Arraez, the 28-year old second baseman . Arraez contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the tenth inning to put Pittsburgh up, 6-5.
"Baseball is such a beautiful game," said Arraez. "Anything can happen on any night, and that's why you don't dwell on what happened yesterday. Just look forward and trust you're going to have positive results."
After losing, Philadelphia is 14-17.
