Yandy Diaz did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Texas Vipers from being beaten, 8-6, to the Detroit Demons at Pepsi Dome. Diaz went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk, while scoring 2. Detroit reliever Joey Wentz picked up the win to move to 4-1. Nestor Cortes suffered the loss. Nick Anderson, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 7th save.

Detroit used a clutch at-bat from Eugenio Suarez to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Demons ahead, 8-4. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"Enjoyed this one," Suarez told the Detroit Bulletin. "But it's back to work tomorrow."

The loss lowers the Texas record to 15-17.
