Bombers Turn Back Millers, 4-3
|
The Bronx Bombers scored a tight, 4-3 win versus the Minnesota Millers at Target Field. Bronx pitcher George Kirby held his own in the contest. The winning pitcher was Kirby, now 4-2. He tossed 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 8. Minnesota falls to 16-16.
Bronx used the hitting of Jose Altuve to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Bombers on top, 4-3. For the game, Altuve had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
After the game, Bronx manager Scott Gessford applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
