Chicago Slaps 3-1 Loss on Texas
|
The Chicago Explorers beat the Texas Vipers, 3-1, at Baron's Ballyard. The Explorers got a fine performance from shortstop Javier Baez, who was 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 times. The winning pitcher was Cade Horton. He's now 4-1. He went 5.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits for the Explorers. Jeremiah Estrada closed the game out for Chicago, earning his 9th save.
Colton Cowser had a big run-scoring double for the Explorers in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Chicago leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a curveball from Reese Olson, who is tied for 2nd in the UL in quality starts with 5, and swatted a double to left. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Explorers ahead, 3-1.
"What's not to like about a win?" said Baez.
The Explorers now have a record of 18-15 with the win over Texas.
