Carolina Loses, 7-5, Despite Abreu Exploits
|
Though he had a stellar game, Wilyer Abreu could not prevent his team, the Carolina Riptides, from losing, 7-5, to the Washington Hitmen. Abreu went 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Ian Hamilton got credit for the save for Washington. It was his 7th of the year. By defeating Carolina, the last-place Hitmen improved to 15-19.
Noelvi Marte chipped in a 2-run home run for Washington in the bottom of the first. For the game, the third baseman had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI.
"Winning never gets dull," said Marte.
