Explorers Win, 4-1, Versus Los Angeles
|
The Chicago Explorers downed the Los Angeles Spirit, 4-1, at Nike Field. Stellar pitching by Grayson Rodriguez had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 9th in the UL in quality starts with 4, handcuffed his opponent all game. Jeremiah Estrada closed out the game, earning his 10th save. The 4th-place Explorers have won 4 in a row.
Michael Toglia had a direct impact on the outcome. Toglia contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Chicago up, 2-1.
"The bar for us is not a particular opponent, it's ourselves," said Chicago manager Rock Carpenter.
