Explorers Suffer One-Run Loss at Los Angeles
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Los Angeles Spirit got the win.
Los Angeles starter Zac Gallen pitched well against the Chicago Explorers at Nike Field. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-3. Ronny Henriquez earned the save, his 10th, for the Spirit.
Los Angeles second baseman Jackson Holliday contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a curveball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 39th hit of the season and put the Spirit ahead, 4-0.
"Zac did a good job of managing their lineup," said Los Angeles manager Bobby Kirkpatrick.
After today's action, Los Angeles sits at 19-16; Chicago slips to 19-16.
