Los Angeles Steamrolls Chicago, 15-3
|
Los Angeles shortstop Cameron Cauley had a 5-RBI performance, which helped his team down the Chicago Explorers, 15-3. The winner in relief was Ian Anderson. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3.2 innings. He now owns a record of 2-1. The Spirit now have a record of 20-16 with the win over Chicago.
The Explorers had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Spirit going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 27-year old third baseman Andres Chaparro came to the plate. Chaparro hit a 2-run home run on a 2-1 slider from Chicago hurler Andre Pallante. It was Chaparro's 7th home run of the year.
Said Chicago manager Rock Carpenter after the blowout loss: "They did pretty much every facet of the game better than we did and that's why we lost."
