Denver Upended, 5-0, by Phoenix
|
The Phoenix Firebirds extended their winning streak.
The Phoenix Firebirds dumped the Denver Bears, 5-0, in large part due to left fielder Austin Slater. On the day, Slater went 1-1 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Firebirds. Aaron Bummer collected his 2nd save.
Phoenix used the timely hitting of Edmundo Sosa to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Firebirds on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
Slater called the win "an overall solid one."
The Phoenix winning streak has reached 6 games.
