Win Lifts Sting to 21-16
|
The Seattle Sting got a rain-soaked win over the Denver Bears.
The 7-3 Seattle win over Denver was due largely to Corbin Carroll. The Sting left fielder went 2-5 with 2 doubles and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Picking up the win was Eury Perez. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 2 hits. The right--hander struck out 3 and walked 3.
Pete Alonso, who finished 3rd in the UL in home runs with 39 last year, helped out the Seattle cause in the top of the sixth inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the designated hitter went 1 for 4.
"We're trying to go out there and win games," Carroll told the Seattle Today, "and we played pretty well tonight."
With the win, Seattle pushed its record to 21-16.
