Twice as Nice: Tampa Bay Extends Lead to 2-0 With Walk-off Win
|
Behind the big bat of designated hitter Yordan Alvarez, the Tampa Bay Bandits have opened up a healthy early lead in the Round 3. The Bandits topped the Boston Minutemen, 6-4, at Tony Gwynn Memorial Field in Game 2, and now hold a 2-0 edge in the best-of-7 series. Alvarez was 2 for 5 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 to power Tampa Bay to victory.
The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the ninth. With Tampa Bay trailing 4-3, Alvarez jumped on a fastball from 30-year old right-handed pitcher Michael King and hit a 3-run home run to right. With one swing, the Bandits had a walk-off win.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Alvarez, "and then get after it again."
The next game is set to be played for Sunday, October 19th , 2025 at Fenway Park in Boston.
