Millers Prevail, 4-2, Over Cincinnati
|
The Cincinnati Stars could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Daulton Jefferies into a win. Instead, the Minnesota Millers prevailed, 4-2. Jefferies threw 6.1 innings allowing 4 runs. Tyson Miller picked up the win in relief. Daulton Jefferies took the loss for Cincinnati. The Union League Central Division-leading Millers are 77-60.
Kyle Manzardo had a big 2-run home run for the Millers in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Minnesota leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 29-year old right-handed pitcher Daulton Jefferies and punished it. The result was his 12th home run of the season, which put the Millers on top, 4-0.
Said losing manager Pat Padula: "Give the Millers credit. They played a better game than we did."
