San Francisco Downed, 8-5, by Snakeyes
|
The San Diego Snakeyes weathered a fine game by San Francisco shortstop Oneil Cruz to upend the Dragons, 8-5, at Pac Bell Park. Cruz was 2-3 with a double and 2 walks. Thomas Szapucki, now 5-2, was credited with the win in 1.1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 2 and walking 0. The last-place Snakeyes are 64-75.
First Baseman Vinnie Pasquantino made an impact for San Diego, when he swatted a 2-run double off Framber Valdez in the top of the third. For the contest, Pasquantino went 1 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs.
San Diego manager Kelly Woolsey was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys went out there and put good wood on the ball," he said.
