Sharks Absorb 7-3 Home Loss
|
Wet weather did not postpone the Bronx-New York ballgame.
Bronx Bombers starter Jesus Luzardo found his groove in his team's 7-3 win over the New York Sharks. The winner was Luzardo. He threw 5.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Caleb Kilian. Jordan Hicks notched his 23rd save in 29 chances.
Isan Diaz had a big bases-clearing double for the Bombers in the top of the first inning. With Bronx leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Caleb Kilian and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bombers ahead, 5-0.
Diaz said his team "played with focus."
The victory gives Bronx a record of 71-70.
