Riptides Win at Pittsburgh, 3-1
|
Dylan Cease, who finished 3rd in the UL in ERA with 3.41 last year, never let the Ironmen get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Riptides to a win, 3-1. Cease picked up the win for Carolina, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 15-9. Matt Brash got the save, his 28th in 32 chances.
Kyle Schwarber, who finished 4th in the UL in OPS with .943 in 2019, chipped in a solo home run for Carolina in the top of the fourth. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in.
"I had everything working," said Cease.
The win puts Carolina at 81-61 this season.
