In a low-scoring tilt between the New York Sharks and the Bronx Bombers, German Marquez, who finished 5th in the UL in innings pitched with 204.2 in 2021, was the difference-maker. The New York right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. The winning pitcher was Marquez, now 7-13. He tossed 6 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 5. The win elevated the Sharks to 73-69.

The Sharks got a big at-bat from right fielder Kerry Carpenter. For the game, Carpenter went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 35th home run of the season gave New York a 3-0 lead.

"I was talking to myself on the mound, saying 'attack, attack, attack, stay convicted, no matter what,'" said Marquez.
