The Carolina Riptides picked up a win at Citizens Bank Park, topping the Philadelphia Phalanx, 1-0. On the mound for Carolina was left-hander Jordan Montgomery. He played a principal role in the triumph. The winning pitcher was Montgomery, now 3-1. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. The save was credited to Jordan Romano, his 2nd.

Juan Soto, who is tied for 4th in the UL in total bases with 95, had a direct impact on the outcome. Soto contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning to put Carolina up, 1-0.

"I felt like I had pretty good command of mostly everything," said Montgomery.

Carolina is now 22-17, Philadelphia 16-23.
