Extra-Inning Win by Sharks Over Riptides
The New York Sharks needed 15 innings to defeat the Carolina Riptides, 7-5, at IBM Field. New York center fielder Jake McCarthy had a superb performance. He went 2-5 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Caleb Thielbar earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record is now 8-3. The second-place Sharks have won 6 in a row.

New York needed the clutch hitting of Michael Massey to seal the deal. The designated hitter swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the 15th inning to put the Sharks on top, 7-5. For the game, Massey had 1 home run and 1 single in 2 at-bats.

"Our team showed some resilience," said McCarthy.
