Sharks Suffer 4-3 Road Loss
|
The first-place Carolina Riptides took on the New York Sharks in front of a spirited crowd.
Carolina Riptides starter Tarik Skubal pitched a strong game against the New York Sharks at IBM Field, leading the Riptides to victory, 4-3. Skubal got the win, improving to 13-7. He gave up 4 hits and walked 0 over 6.2 innings. He allowed 1 run. Matt Brash converted his 29th save in 35 tries.
Bo Bichette, who finished 4th in the UL in extra base hits with 75 in 2021, chipped in a 3-run home run for Carolina in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the shortstop had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.
"Tarik went out and did what we needed," said Carolina manager Rob Hansen.
Carolina leads the Union League Eastern Division by 4½ games.
