Stars Suffer 3-2 Home Defeat
|
Due in large part to third baseman Zach Neto, the Minnesota Millers sunk the Cincinnati Stars, 3-2. Neto was 2-3 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The win went to Clay Holmes in relief, making him now 5-3. Daulton Jefferies took the loss for Cincinnati. Earning the save was Andres Munoz. He's now cashed in 26 of 30 save opportunities.
Minnesota took a 3-0 lead on Neto's 16th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Daulton Jefferies in the top of the eighth, propelled Minnesota to the win.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Minnesota manager Pierre Duschesnau.
The first-place Millers, at 84-64, now lead their division by 7½ games.
